So Taylor and I kicked up the idea of doing a blogger of the month in March. I don't think we necessarily gave our title of blogger of the month too much of a description and inform you guys what it actually means. Since, I'm the guy writing this up, I'll tell you what community means to me. In this whole dating, relationship, sex advice community there's a good number of fellow bloggers that I throw a wink to and a nod. They're doing good things, they're peers and, in some cases, I place them on a pedestal as people I look up to. There's a lot of talented bloggers and writers in this little space. However, for me to say “yes, that' person deserves more recognition than everyone else,” it takes a little bit more than just writing. It takes community involvement, helping others and building on top of what we're all trying to hard to build. After all, this is a labor of love and we do it as much for you, the reader, as we do for ourselves…
And the Blogger of the Month for April Goes to…
What it do Skye Blue, from Met Another Frog! Taylor and I absolutely adore this woman and her epic boobage. Not only is Skye Blue amazing, but she also runs, along with the Man Sam Sharpe and Elizabeth Rose, the popular site Met Another Frog.
Skye Blue took some time to answer a few questions I had for her so I could post them for you on the Urban Dater. I know, I know what you're all going to ask: “Did you ask her if she would breast smother you into oblivion?” I did ask that questions and I'm pretty sure the middle finger is the international standard way of saying something that starts with F and ends with k (which, if you know of a non expletive word that does start with f and ends with k please dm me on twitter. Totally trying to own at words with friends!)
Alex: How did you get into blogging in the first place and how did Met Another Frog get boinked into existence?
Skye Blue: In 2008, the three of us were all in the middle of a string of particularly horrific dates/sexual encounters. When we shared the stories with each other, we laughed – a hell of a lot, as we marveled at the madness of it all. As much as we realized that we were the common denominators in all the craziness of our respective dating lives, we also knew that we weren’t alone. So, in hopes of: 1) finding a wider audience to commiserate and share our funny with; 2) offering some solace to people who might actually believe they were the only ones suffering in dating purgatory; and 3) satisfying our shared desire to write, we started the blog in October 2009.
A: How did you, Elizabeth Rose and Sam all meet?
S: I met Sam in 2003 when we were both participating in a charity event, and I had the good fortune of meeting Elizabeth through my job in 2006. I thought they were both great and as luck would have it when I finally got around to introducing them, they hit it off too. And the rest as they say, is history.
A: What do you find most rewarding about running your blog?
S: Well, for me personally outside of loving the writing, I really enjoy the interaction with our tweeps, having the opportunity to meet new people, and all the learning that comes with running the blog. My interview subjects, the reading I do to write certain posts and the people I meet at the various events we attend because of/cover for the blog all give me lots to think about and learn from.
A: What is one golden piece of advice that's never steered you wrong?
S: Never ever be afraid to ask for what you want. That one is courtesy of Mr. Sam Sharpe.
A: When you're not dishing the dirt on your blog and on Twitter, what are you doing with your free time?
S: Reading, listening to music, hanging out with my friends, reading, working out, spending as much time as I can on my back and…did I already say reading?
A: What would you be doing, if you weren't doing this (the blog, the job and that sort of stuff?)
S: In an ideal world I’d spend all my time travelling, meeting new people and learning about different cultures.
A: Like Taylor, you have epic boobage. Do you think that positively or negatively affects your love life?
S: Neither. Those that like ‘em, like ‘em a lot, and those that don’t probably don’t even stop to give me the time of day. So, it all works out in the end, no?
A: Any final thoughts for our readers or shout outs?
S: Yeah. Fuck More and Buy Less. If we all did that the world would be a much happier and healthier place. Just sayin’.
Thanks and congrats to Skye Blue; I kinda wish we had something cool to send the woman, but there's only so many cock picks she'll tolerate from me (actually, truth be told, the resolution required to get my penis on a digital photo requires too much space, so it breaks email servers when I send one out!) Please go Check out metanotherfrog.com right now! It's a beautiful site, very slick and chock full of amazing content. Go check it out! What? You don't believe me??! Just DO IT!
