To Dump or to Date. It’s a Question
Alright, kids, I'm gonna serve up a dish for you; a dish of tasty dating drama and goodness. Mmmm. Drama!! I'll be providing you a scenario and you guys weight in on what you think the “correct” course of action is. By the end of this little article, hopefully you will re-learn that social networks are never your friend when trying to cover your ass. I'm just sayin'.
It was a bitingly chilly day on Steak and BJ day aka March 14th. Devin was laid up and more sick than that episode of Hoarders where the therapists find that elderly person using jars of piss as pillows (I think that's every episode… Oh and WHY THE F*CK DO YOU PEOPLE WATCH THAT SH#T???). The man wasn't going to do anything. However, Devin had made plans with the gal he was seeing, Betty. Now, Betty and Devin are not exclusive in the boyfriend girlfriend type way; which is to say that they're committed without being committed… Yeah, I don't get that shit either.
Anyway, Devin stayed home, sick. Betty took off with her friend, from high school (a girlfriend) to go wine tasting. That was fine. Or was it? Devin found out a few weeks later that his gal had also or, instead-of, taken another guy with her on this wine tasting trip. Furthermore, Devin also found out that Betty took this same guy with her on another trip to Havasu…
However, I need to provide some context so that you all get a better idea of what's going on.
Exhibit A — In the early stages of their “getting to know you” phase Devin encountered a challenger to the vagininus. A guy, let's call him “Rod.” Rod and Betty went to a show where they were supposed to meet up with Devin. Needless to say, Betty and Rod pretty much did everything they could to NOT meetup Devin. We're talking ignored texts, cryptic text messages about where Betty thought she MIGHT be. If actions tell a story, it's pretty clear that Betty didn't care too much for Devin here, yet he's a glutton for punishment and persisted.
From that point forward, Devin made it clear that if Betty wanted to date other people then he wanted out, because that's not how the man wanted to roll. Betty assured him that she didn't want to see other people, just him and that the guy is “just a friend.” Devin made it also clear that he had a problem with this guy hanging out with Betty. And it was his perception that this Hombre was not just any kind of friend. Problem solved. Right?
WRONG!
Exhibit B — With the knowledge that comes from seeing eye to eye with your opponent going to war over the same woman, there comes some expectations of conduct. Devin had established a “rule of law” of sorts, with Betty, in Exhibit A. They're not going to see other people. Okay. Fine. That's out of the way. Betty had taken a trip to go wine tasting with a girlfriend of hers. Not long after that, she had taken a trip to Havasu, also with girlfriends. This is what she told Devin. So far, so good.
What Devin ended up finding, later on, through the power of Social Media, spedifically, Instagram, was that Betty was with Rod on both occasions as a few sordid photos, appropriately dated and captioned would evidence. The poses, granted, were not of the two having sex, but they did conjure up memories of that song ‘Too Close‘ by Next, but I digress.
This leaves some burning questions… Or does it?
Should Devin be upset? Should he confront Betty? To date or not to date? You decide! Discuss!
