Getting Lost and Teased

It's not a cock-tease, it's foreplay

By the time you’ve read this, Lost’s finale will already have happened and the interwebs will be abuzz about what happened, critiquing the hell out of it.  Maybe your office co-worker, Tanya Twophister thinks the episode was amazing, while Ned Nincompoop thought it was a complete waste of time and wasn’t at all a satisfying end to something that’s had six years of build up.  While the discussion is not black and white, I will, instead, draw a comparison between Lost and foreplay.  Gotta throw the sex part in there, kids.

It started on Facebook, when a friend commented on a status update.  The update had to do with my near-orgasm excitement for another chapter of Lost!  However, my buddy, Lancerd McCockingham, left a comment more or less saying that the show was a cock tease and that if he wanted to be teased, he’d try to hit on the bar-wenches at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire.  Point taken; dude’s not a fan of Lost.  He’s not alone.

Personally, I loved Lost.  I liked being teased and tortured with various plot twists and turns because I always believed there was going to be a payoff.  There was, eventually so my faith was not betrayed.

Lost is a good bit like foreplay.  Girlfriends past have commented on my healthy appetite for foreplay; and why not!? I love the journey and thinking about what the destination might be.  Most women appreciate a man that will draw and explore the lines and curves of her body.  Women appreciate the “destination” a lot more when they enjoy, equally, the “journey” to their climax… sometimes they appreciate the “destination” on multiple occasions (pun intended).

I’ve heard, many times, from women that they’ve been with guys that just drop their pants and jump right in and grind away.  Ouch!  Guys, if you don’t do the foreplay bit that’s just bad form.  Learn to love the journey, be a journeyman!  Be patient and believe in the power of the happy ending (interpret as you wish).

I enjoy the buildup of stories, characters, a good  hike and sex ( I don’t appreciate the buildup of dust bunnies, however).  Perhaps this enjoyment of the buildup, the journey comes from my love of comic books and their sometimes winding story arcs, I think this feeds into my appreciation for Lost and Foreplay.

I understand that this is a pretty narrow view of two seemingly unrelated things, Lost and Foreplay, but I think there are parallels to be drawn and related.  The most important, to me, is this: The journey can be just as satisfying as the destination and deserves your attention.  In another post, I'll layout a few tips on how to enjoy your journey a little more.

What do you think?  Are you a foreplay kind of person?  Do you think there's a line that can be drawn between Lost and some foreplay action? Let us know in the comments below!

  1. Ah, everyone needs more foreplay in their lives, I'd say. I appreciate the destination much more after spending a good bit of time enjoying beautiful scenery and landscapes en route. On the other hand, after a journey consisting of a shortcut through industrial parks, you're just relieved that it's over.

  2. I was really hoping someone would have some purvy innuendo for the smoke monster in response to this article, thus far, hasn't happened… Le sigh.
